Meet the Owner
Nirad Bastakoti
Born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, Nirad Bastakoti grew up surrounded by the rich aromas of his grandmother's kitchen — cardamom, ginger, and freshly brewed tea. Coffee came later, during his studies in Melbourne, where he discovered the world of specialty espresso and fell completely in love.
After years of training under master roasters in Melbourne and Copenhagen, Nirad returned to North America with a singular vision: to open a coffee shop that bridges his Nepali heritage with the precision of third-wave coffee culture. Bastakoti Brew was born in 2019 — and it's been a labor of love ever since.
Every bean is personally selected by Nirad on sourcing trips to Ethiopia, Colombia, and Nepal. Every recipe is tested dozens of times before it earns a place on the menu. His philosophy is simple: "Great coffee is an act of care."
